Screenplay- David’s Story
Story Structure
Act 1
David, now 23 finds the guy who shot him years ago when he was 17 at the restaurant where he now works as a waiter. He has a flashback, sweats and gets pale. He gets a gun from his car and wants to get him back. He decides to follow him.
Act 2
David follows Sean home. His friend calls him and offers to accompany him but he wants to do this alone. He confronts him at the door. Sean does not fight back or resist. Instead he is resigned to meet his fate and pay.
Act 3
David is disarmed by Sean’s candor. He leaves the scene unable to hurt Sean. However, Sean was just putting on an act and wants to end David’s life next time.
Two women travel by car along a highway. ANA, about 50, is
driving, the other TAHARAI, about 23 is pensive.
TAHARAI
I watched the news today.
ANA
What did you learn?
There was a man accused of murder
sentenced to life in prison.
ANA
Punishment and guilt do not go hand
in hand.
TAHARAI
What do you mean?
ANA
He may have killed for a good
enough reason to not feel guilty.
TAHARAI
Killing to eat is it not murdering?
ANA
Really? Says who?
TAHARAI
The laws of nature.
ANA
Good. You've learned a lot.
TAHARAI
What about to teach a lesson?
ANA
That too.
The radio newscast comes on.
ANNOUNCER (O.S.)
The Orion Oil Refinery spokesperson
has announced the death of two
guards, and millions lost in the
attack by terrorists thought to be
in Green Peace Movement.
ANA
Green Peace Justice.
